Substance Abuse Education & Counseling

At Ken Seeley Rehab we have decades of experience working with thousands of addicts, and we have developed an approach that works. Our licensed therapists and addiction specialists realize that rehab is only the initial phase of overcoming issues with substance abuse. Our treatment program is designed to give our clients and their families the tools needed to embrace a long term, sobriety minded lifestyle.

Dr. Phil’s Path to Recovery

This program, known as Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy, uses Virtual Reality (VR) technology for psychological or occupational therapy. Inside the world of the VR headset, you will sit-down with Dr. Phil and engage with environments and situations important for avoiding relapse. This program is meant to help people confront problems in their life (not limited to alcoholism and addiction), identify the causes, and start working toward permanent solutions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Individuals in CBT learn to identify and correct problematic behaviors by applying a range of different skills that can be used to stop substance abuse.  Cognitive-behavioral strategies are based on the theory that learning processes play a critical role in the formation of negative behavioral patterns.

Trauma-Informed Care

This program goes into the underlying issues of addiction based on trauma throughout one’s lifetime. We believe unresolved trauma is highly likely to bring on a relapse to drugs & alcohol.  Caring for individuals and helping them discover their traumatic history is an important part of our holistic program.

Individual Counseling

Through its emphasis on short-term behavioral goals, individualized counseling helps the patient develop coping strategies and tools to abstain from maintaining abstinence from drugs & alcohol. Individual counseling is part of the program for drug & substance abuse and dual-diagnosis. Individual drug counseling also addresses related areas of impaired functioning—such as mental health, employment status, legal issues and family relations.

Long-term Case Management

This program is available to those in recovery and those who have moved out of intensive treatment. Each individual is given a recovery advocate to follow their progress, engage in phone calls and order random drug & alcohol screenings. The recovery advocate works with families to build safe relationships, and creates useful documentation for family, employers, and legal issues.

Five Year Recovery Plans

We work with individuals and their support system to create lasting recovery plans.  This includes programs such as case management (recovery advocate program), attendance of 12-step meetings and home groups, setting up additional doctors, therapists and counselors and setting the right boundaries for a healthy recovery.

Access to 12-Step Meetings

12-Step meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous provide not only a “one day at a time” mindset for overcoming substance abuse, but also provide community and fellowship. Set in downtown Palm Springs, our facilities are within walking distance of many 12-Step Meetings. We provide private transportation to these and many other meetings within Palm Springs and Coachella Valley.

Non-12-Step Groups and Meetings

Additionally, we provide access to non-12 step groups and meetings such as smart recovery, mental health support groups and meditation based workshops and meetings.

Family Recovery
